What has your attention has your heart, which is why there may be no better way to make a difference in your life than to recalibrate your attention. Find hope and healing from what Jesus said is worth your undivided attention.
This week we see the neighbor in need. The world we’ve built around us is designed to keep us from seeing the most vulnerable around us. Yet Jesus taught that we must judge our life by how we treat the least and the lost. We must learn to see what’s easily overlooked — including the one who heals us when we’re at our most vulnerable.
Jesus says the man in the ditch was stripped naked. Which means there was no way for anyone to tell whether the victim was important or unimportant, prominent or insignificant, wealthy or poor, productive or lazy, upright or a scoundrel, God-fearing or atheist, deserving or undeserving. He was to the eyes of everyone who saw him nothing but a human being. And that is who the Lord Jesus Christ says is your neighbor. That is who the Lord Jesus Christ says deserves your attention and requires your compassion. That is who the Lord Jesus says needs your attention.
