On proper prayer

Undivided Attention Promotional Graphic
What has your attention has your heart, which is why there may be no better way to make a difference in your life than to recalibrate your attention. Join us at Redeemer to find hope and healing from what Jesus said is worth our undivided attention.

This week we focus on prayer. The phrase  “thoughts and prayers” has become a running joke in some circles and an object of scorn in others. And while there’s no doubt some Christians have given prayer a bad name, it’s only because they lost focus on what matters most. Instead of trying to get what we want from God, our prayers must attend to what God wants for us. Only then will we discover that prayer is the door through which God enters our daily life.

Jesus doesn’t leave us thinking prayer is merely a matter of saying the right words. He goes further. We discover that Jesus gives us not just a set of words to say, but a new status in which to live. Jesus says we can begin our prayer by addressing God as “Father.”
